Ekeberg Statue Run

We meet at the Ekebergparken tram stop and head straight into the sculpture park. The route winds up through old oak and beech woods on gravel and forest paths, passing the sculptures that are scattered across the hillside — Vigeland, Rodin, Dalí, Renoir, Louise Bourgeois and more modern installations tucked in among the trees.

At the top we stop at the viewpoint by Ekebergrestauranten, where the whole city, the fjord and the islands open up below — the spot that inspired Munch's The Scream. From there we run the open Ekebergsletta side of the hill before an easy descent back to the tram.

The hill is honest but the pace is relaxed, with plenty of short stops for the art and the view. The run can finish with a coffee at the park café before you take the tram back down to the centre.

What to bring

Running shoes suited to the terrain, clothing for the forecast, and a small bottle of water. In autumn and winter, bring a head torch and a windproof layer.
