This is the run that keeps the water on your side the whole way. We start at the Sørenga sea pool and follow the harbour promenade west: the Opera House, the Munch museum behind us, Akershus Fortress on the rock above, the City Hall square, Aker Brygge and the Tjuvholmen sculpture park.

Past Filipstad the city loosens up and we continue around Frognerkilen and over to Bygdøy — Oslo's green peninsula — with the Fram and Kon-Tiki museums, Bygdøynes and, if the group is up for it, the beach at Huk as the turning point.

Almost entirely flat and paved, with plenty of viewpoints and stops. We either run back the same way or take the ferry or bus in from Bygdøy, depending on the day and the group.

What to bring

Running shoes suited to the terrain, clothing for the forecast, and a small bottle of water. In autumn and winter, bring a head torch and a windproof layer.
