Grefsenkollen Trail & Sauna

Forest trails to Oslo's best viewpoint, finished with a wood-fired sauna.

We start at Lofthus and head straight into the forest, climbing gently on soft trails towards Uteliggerhytta, a small open cabin that makes a natural first pause.

From there the trail continues to Trollvann, a quiet forest lake, before the final stretch brings us to Grefsenkollen — one of Oslo's finest viewpoints, looking out over the city, the islands and the fjord.

At the top, those who want can finish with a session in the wood-fired trailer sauna run by Oslo Badstuforening, with its panoramic window facing the view we just ran through. Sauna tickets are booked separately and are not included in the tour price.

What to bring

Running shoes suited to the terrain, clothing for the forecast, and a small bottle of water. In autumn and winter, bring a head torch and a windproof layer.
